Topic #6: Jealousy

This is my first time doing a topic, usually Sunny does them, so bear with me here. We shall be discussing jealousy. As always, please explain your answers, don't just say no or yes, say no or yes because etc.

First of all, what is jealousy?
-Wikipedia says:
Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, sadness, and disgust. It is not to be confused with envy.
-Dictionary.com says:
1. jealous resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another's success or advantage itself.
2. mental uneasiness from suspicion or fear of rivalry, unfaithfulness, etc., as in love or aims.
3. vigilance in maintaining or guarding something.

Now that we have that established, what does the Bible say about it?
-Galatians 5:26 “Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”
-Galatians 5:19-21 "Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."
-Psalm 37:1-3 "Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness."

So now we finally get down to the questions.
-is it ok to be jealous of someone?
-what's the difference between jealousy and envy?
-do you struggle with jealousy?
-how would you stop being jealous if you were and it was wrong?
-i know i gave the internet answers, but what do you think jealousy is?
-do you agree with the internet answers?

Also, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

UPDATED: Hello all! We were having some technical difficulties so we had to repost this topic. We copyed in the comment that was already posted from before. So hopefully this will work! Proceed as planned!

Here's an interesting topic: Dating. So what is everyones thoughts on it, in general? And for those who need a little more guidance (like me!:P) here's some questions to anwser.

What age should one begin to date?
What are the boundaires in a relationship?
What are the boundaires in a deep committed relationship?
Should Christ followers date non-believers?
What does the Bible have to say about all this?

Happy discussing! We're greatful for all the requests, keep it up! Click on the picture that says "Requests" to, you guessed it, request a new topic.

P.S. Also have a look at the prayer room if you haven't already!

Prayer Room

I was just thinking about how important it is to pray for each other, as a youth family, and how we really have no way to know each other's requests. That's what the prayer room will hopefully help with. The prayer room is intended for BSBC youth to post their requests and praises(in the comments section), so we can pray for each other.

The request can be as general or specific as you'd like. It doesn't matter if we know all the details or even who you are, because God knows, so feel free to comment anonymously.
Remember that no request is too small or to big! Whiether it's peace about an upcoming test or if your life seems to be falling apart, they're all important.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Phililppians 4:6-7

Topic #4: Joy

We're going to do joy first, because it's been requested first. Remember to keep adding topics in "An explanation" post.

So here are the questions to start off with:

What is Joy?
Should we be joyful?
If so, how can we be joyful?
Is it hard? Why or why not?

Any other personal experiences/thoughts are welcome:D Remember to back up your thoughts! Happy discussing!

Topic #3: Dealing With Drama

So we've gathered a good amount of info on dealing with drama and we've decided it's time to start the post:) Feel free to discuss, argue and share your thoughts.

Drama is usually any situation that requires a lot of personal will (and help form God!) to deal with. It involves tough decisions, putting relationships with others on the line.

Do you agree with that statement?
Is drama bad?
What can we learn from drama?
How should we deal with it?

Topic #2 Trust

So we got a request for a post on trust. Comment about your thoughts and ideas :) Try to answer at least one of the questions. Make sure you explain your thinking, for example don't just say no I don't like salad. Say no I don't like salad because it tastes bad and sticks in my teeth. Anyways So here are some questions to discuss:

Is it easy to trust people? Why or Why not?
Should we trust people/people trust us?
Do we make it easy for people to trust us?How can we?
What does the Bible hav to say about trust?

Topic #1: Swearing

Hey all,

I thought that I would get the ball rolling. So what do you all think about swearing?

What words are "okay"?
Which ones aren't?
Should we be doing it?
Can anyone think of any Bible verses that deal with this topic?

An explanation

Hey Bsbc Youth!

We thought that it would be a good idea to have some kind of discussian. So here's the plan:
You (yes, you!) can suggest a topic in this post, in the comments section. Than one of the authors will start a post on it and you can state your thoughts/questions/opinions in the comment section. Any questions?
